An exciting opportunity has arisen within a rapidly expanding heart and vascular department in Cork city for a passionate, highly driven Chief 2 Cardiac Technician.
This is a unique time to join this hospital in Cork, where currently a second Cath lab is been built, ongoing investment in the service in line with the group’s strategic plan and you will be involved in bringing the vision to life as the heart and vascular department expands and develops further.
You will work with Irelands leading heart and vascular consultants. Within this department they offer a full range of cardiac non-invasive and invasive investigations and treatments including ECG, stress testing, ambulatory monitoring, device follow up clinics, transthoracic and transoesophageal echo, angiography, PCI, EP studies and ablation, pacemaker and ICD implants
This department is growing quickly with the second Cath lab opening in early 2023, and many new consultants joining the hospital.
About the department:
The department offers services such as treadmill testing/Echo/ECG, EP and pacing. In 2023 this hospital will carry out cardio-thoracic surgery. The team is currently made up by an Acting Chief 2 , Chief 1, Senior Cardiac Physiologists and Staff grade Cardiac Physiologists.
Purpose of Post: The primary role of the Chief 2 Technician is to provide leadership, manage and develop Cardiology staff ensuring a high standard of service delivery. Continuous quality improvement and the management of change are central to this role.
Ideal candidate: You will have management experience, a proven track record in a variety of settings and you must be able to demonstrate the ability to achieve targets with a strong focus on operational issues, strategic development etc.
Role: This is a permanent, fulltime position working Monday- Friday, offering a very package for the right candidate.
This is a unique opportunity for a passionate individual to form an integral part of the hospital leadership team to lead and shape our imaging function including departmental policy design and implementation.
Essential skills & knowledge:
- Applicants should be an associate of the Society for Cardiological Science and Technicians or equivalent.
- A diploma in medical physics and physiological measurement from a college of technology or equivalent or degree in Clinical Measurement or equivalent.
- Have 7 years post qualification experience with at least 3 years Echo, Cath and Pacing experience.
- Proven leadership and management experience is essential.
